This is a little sketch my gf did, and she thinks its so bad its not worth continuing. For a unfinished sketch I think it shows plenty of promise. Her DA is here, not much on it because she burns/banishes/trashes most of her stuff (I'm trying to change that).
Depends on whether she traced it or used a reference to copy the sketch. If she did, it's only okay. If not, it's pretty good and she is certainly talented.
Advice to any artist: Never throw anything away! As embarrassing as many pieces may be to you, it's important to learn from them, and eventually you can look back on them and see how far you've come along. And besides, if you happen to get famous for all your effort, those little sketches will have increased value to someone else. Which reminds me, you also have the option to give it to an admirer rather than destroy it. It makes the person happy, and you shouldn't deny them that whenever possible. :)
It's hard to create art with character in it, and this certainly has character - it's incredibly cute. Certainly not something to throw out, I'd say.
Shows a lot of promise, yes. I thought the face was especially well done; the hands and arms need some work, but I understand why - hands are especially hard to draw! With some practice, though, that's easily conquered.

I'm not a huge fan of Anime, but as an artist i think this is good.
ReplyDeleteI believe the proper term is "kawaii desu!" (^^)

ReplyDeleteThe linework is very good, but the pose is pretty static, like she's been welded in place.
ReplyDeleteI'm not huge anime fan either, but it is fun to draw and this looks quite professional.
ReplyDeleteWell done.

ReplyDeleteExcellent point, and that's exactly how I came to have it! Hopefully that will continue (I'd hate to have to resort to subterfuge).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the input!
Needs work on the hands, but looks promising otherwise.
